how should i retrieve a plastic 4" worm?
i have these 4 inch worms i think there stick worms because they dont have a twirly tail.
i wanna know whats the best way to retrieve them and whats the best rig to use like texas, wacky, carolina, etc.
all the rigs you have listed will work with a 4" worm. l usually texas rig them with a size 1 hook and 1/8oz to 3/16oz weight. a big splitshot about a foot above the hook is just as effective. allows the worm just a little more action and it will drop slower on the twitches.
they are also very well taken on a dropshot rig. use the same hook tied about a foot above the weight with a palomar knot. l usually just crimp a few splitshot to the end of my line for weight when dropshotting. you can let a dropshot rig just sit while you wiggle the heck out of the worm in front of a fish's nose.
one other thing... tie the hook before placing the weight and run the tag end of the line back down through the hook eye so the point rides up. tension on your line will keep your worm and hook at a right angle to the line.
with any worm rig, just use very short hops and twitches with long pauses between.
or just inch the worm in an inch at a time. you CAN NOT fish a plastic worm too slowly. SLOW is the key word.
