Catching Largemouth Bass With Live Baits
I like to think of every new year as a fresh start to life... and bass fishing. It's a clean slate for you, and the only question is: are you going to step up your game, and have the best year of your life when it comes to fishing? In the spirit of the New Year, I've got 4 slick tips for you this week that are being used by some of the best Florida bass fishermen in the state.
It'll be easy for you to use these "out of the box" in your favorite fishing spots... and of course you may need to tweak them slightly to apply to the specific spots you fish in your state.
Bass are bass, wherever you go. And, for the most part, they operate off the same instinct triggers in their little brains. Which is why this stuff works so well - in any body of water in the country: Catch Largemouth Bass Not only are these 12 old schoolbass catching masters spread out through North America... ... but they all know the mind of a bass is pretty much universal.Sure, you've got to tweak things a bit sometimes based on condition and situations... but they've got all that covered too.
Stuff like:
* How to "Jerry-rig" any tube bait so it looks like a crawfish shooting through the water backwards...hunting for bass eggs! (When bass see this, they're forced to nail it out of pure instinct.)
* A deadly weedless lure (with a hidden hooks) that slaughters bass during the big feeding binge. (Bass feed like crazy right after the spawn... and if you rip this sucker through the weeds, they destroy it!)
* How to mimic a bait fish in distress with an old school "spinner deflection" secret. (This recreates the most common natural scenario for bass attacks on prey... and you can do it over and over again around cover to catch bass at will.) ...

No bait on a 'Cuda Tube. Just cast and retrieve- quickly!
Also, try using a 1/4-1/2 OZ Jig with a 4" dark-green, curly-tailed, grub. I've had excellent luck burning jigs over the flats for 'Cuda.
Another popular "everything", (meaning it will catch anything from Mangrove Snapper, 'Cuda to juvenile Grouper) lure for Key's flats is a Rapala, HJ10-sized, Husky Jerk in "Glass Minnow" or "Silver" color. (This is one of my fav lures for casting to Mangroves)
Obviously, you MUST use Fluorocarbon leaders when fishing on any flat in the Keys. (The "green tinted" Fluro made by Berkley seems to work best for me- but use your fav fluro.) Typically, a 17-20LB fluro leader is fine for most light tackle situations.
