i fish on a canal where their are many tench its just that i havent caught one yet. I have always tended to fish next to a weedbed on ther bottom on a single grain of sweetcorn which has so far not worked. I usually float fish but am open to any new methods which may help me catch a tench.
Hi, ive been fishing for many,many years and in my opinion the best bait for Tench would be Worm and Castors. There are two witching hours for Tench: Dawn and Dusk. Tench are prodominately bottom feeders and are shy biters. I suggest using a pole or simple lift method technique. Look for features such as Lily pads, Reed beds or overhanging trees. Also try using Hemp, Sweetcorn and Maggots, use one grain of sweetcorn tipped with a red maggot. Tench also have a sweet tooth so try strawberry or tuttie fruttie flavours. One of the main indicators youve got Tench in your swim are patches of fine champange like bubbles, so look for these up and down the canal. Hope this helps and tight lines.
