First, choose high quality fishing rods. Never underestimate the strength of a salmon. Once caught, a salmon struggles hard to break free. You must be ready for such struggles. A weak fishing rod can easily snap and break under the strain of a salmon struggle. So make sure that you use rods that are pliable, bendable, flexible, can be controlled easily, and made of solidly strong material. Graphite steel rods are recommended by many. Bamboo rods are reliable enough too, and they are often cheaper so they don't cut too much off your budget.
