Formally known as the Hot Rods, Rat Rod Trucks were the craze of truck enthusiasts in the mid 1950’s and comprised of fancy trucks with a bouquet of fancy decorative pieces on its outer body. The craze for Hot Rods began in the early 1920’s when a couple of machines were built for thorough durability; these early models lacked fenders, bumpers, hoods as well as accessories and instead used decorative items in place. In fact the truck’s body parts were also used as a substitute to the standard accessories.

I know, however, that you cannot get the Zodiac Spear if you have opened any of the following treasure chests (which I think is supremely ridiculous on Square/Enix's part...because I found that out after having opened them!!) :
Treasure chest in front of Dalan House, Lowtown Rabanastre.
Chests in Rabanastre palace; South east corner of the cellars
Cests inside Nalbina Dungeon in the room where you get your inventory back
And finally, the 16 chests in the south east area of Phon Coast
