Leadcore fishing HOw to?
ok so heres the deal, this summer i am staying on a lake for 4 weeks. It is a big and deep lake. I have been told and have seen people getting lake trout/salmon via downriggers. The problem lies in that i cant get a downrigger because of my dad not waning to install one. SO i need a way to get my line about 45-60 feet down to get them. CAN some one plz explain to me how to use that method to.

If you aren't going to fill your levelwinds with leadcore line then use a dropper loop about thirty inches ahead of your baits or a carolina type rig and fairly heavy weights to get your artificial baits down into the thermocline where the lakers are. When trolling deep areas of a lake (along dam and cliffs) you will need to vary the speed and depths (by using heavier weight) until you find the depth, the speed and in some cases even the direction they are taking (hitting at). I would use a 20 pound fluorocarbon (less diameter) which will get and stay down easier than any monofiliment line. and I would drill a hole in a few rapallas and fill them with silicone or even glue to allow to and give more sinkability to them. Maybe big mepps or spoons will get your bites too. so have a good assortment of baits and bigger ones and ease the baits back as the boat is in gear to allow the weight to not affect the baits running true.
