Fishing Tackle Equipment

I am an avid freshwater fisherman and fishing tackle equipment collector. I love the sport and the peacefulness of being out on the water without a worry in the world. There is nothing like the feeling you get being out on the lake on an early spring morning.

I love waking up on an early May morning before the sun comes up for a full day of great fishing! The best days are the ones when you make it to the boat ramp just as the sun is barely breaking through the grey sky on the horizon, and the water on the lake looks like a sheet of glass. This is every fisherman's dream because you know it is going to be a wonderful day for some great fishing.

This is my favorite time of year because the fish are really starting to get active. This is when they are in the middle of their spawning period so they are really hungry and on high alert. This can be the best time for a fisherman to try out new lures and rigs.

Some tips every fisherman should know:

It is very important to know the conditions in which you will be fishing. First, and most importantly, what kind of fish are you trying to catch? There is a big difference in the fishing tackle equipment you use for catching different fish. If you are trying to catch bluegill you do not want to use a giant crank bait. If you are fishing for the lunker bass you might want to try a larger crank or plastic worm.

Second, you should know the conditions of the water and weather. If it is a nice clear day you can use darker colored lures because the fish will be able to see them through the water. If the water is dark and murky you might try a lighter colored lure to draw their attention. Use something natural that goes with the water you are fishing in basically. If it is a small pond that is hardly ever fished in, don't use a psychedelic colored lure because more than likely they have never seen anything like that and it will probably scare them away.

Third, think about the time of day that you are going fishing. If it is evening or getting dark outside try throwing on a catfish rig and some chicken liver. Chicken liver is one of the best and cheapest baits for catching monster catfish! If you are fishing in the early morning try a floating minnow or top-water lure to catch a monster bass looking for some breakfast. If you are trying to catch something midday throw on a bobber with some live bait. Try some grasshoppers/crickets or some worms to catch some bluegill during midday. Before you go out and buy live bait look around in your yard. You can almost always find some live bait for free if you dig a little bit!

Lastly, make sure you bring all your fishing tackle equipment for the trip. There is nothing more frustrating than getting out on the lake and realizing that you have left your favorite lure at home or that rig that you really wanted to test out. This can be especially irritating when you have driven several miles to get to the water.

If you remember all of these tips you should have a much better fishing experience and you will be able to better plan that perfect fishing trip you have been dreaming of, and hopefully you will catch the lunker that's been waiting at the bottom all this time!

So I have had Lucy isolated from everyone else for about a week now. I am going to list her symptoms and you tell me what you think (watch the video too) ..

She is suffering from a lack of oxygen. This can be caused by several things, namely lack of water movement and higher nitrates.

Your water quality is suspect...what parameters are you testing? With all that leftover food and no filter I have a hard time grasping how your levels are all at zero.

It is clear there is no filter or other water movement device in the tank; the water is stagnant. With stagnant water like that it doesn't take long for oxygen levels to be depleted. Add surface water movement and keep the water quality up and you should see improvement.

Some methylene blue in her quarantine tank can help (but will stain things blue) as it will help improve gill function so she gets more oxygen. It is very commonly used for nitrate poisoning and also is great on preventing fungal and protozoan infections. Then work on adding surface water movement and keep up on water changes.
