Floating Lure
Whats the best way to fish a river?
Last time i went river fishing it was a disaster; i kept geting my cheapy lure caught in the reeds so switched to using my float with magots. Then this got snagged and in trying to pull it free i snapped my expensive carp rod. I didn't catch a thing and it was just a horrible, stressful experience! As you can tell im a complete noob fisherman so please dont use any special lingo in replies.

a carp rods not very ideal to use on a river with float and maggot tactics. your best bet is to use a 3lb hooklenght with a size 16 hook with single or double maggot, if you get a couple of pints of maggots ask for bronze with a handfull of reds added. fish it maggot feeder style and aim for the middle or close to the other side or any slack water in the river. when you get use to catching on the feeder and after a few sessions it will be time to use stick float or waggler tactics. which is more fun.
