Crankbait Lot
What is the MOST you will spend on a Crankbait/Hard Plastic Lure?
In years past I was VERY reluctant to spend a lot on a Crankbait. When LC's came out I was amazed that people would fork $15 for a Crank.
As I've gotten (heavily) back into Tournament fishing things have changed.
I have to admit, the Roumba, the Buzzjet, and various LC's DO catch fish- WELL! Can other lures work the same? Maybe.
I've "compared" and done some "side by side tests" and found that the more expensive Cranks DO catch more fish. In my opinion, the newer, more expensive, Cranks might be intriguing fish because of their strange/different action. "Color" doesn't appear to be as important- a Fire-tiger pattern is a Fire-tiger pattern.
What's your opinion?
If it works, it works... regardless of the price. If the pricier ones happen to be the ones catching all the fish, then so be it.
I'm not a crankbait fisherman, so no way in hell am I coughing up big bucks for one, but during trout planting season when we here in California start throwing the big trout-lookin' swimbaits, well... $25 to $75 is about average for realistic looking lures. My big Ryan Habenicht Rainbow Trout retails for $125 to $150... if you can find it.
