Why You Need PAT Labels For Your Business
Government standards dictate the safety rules and regulations that you need to follow so that your company continues to perform in the proper manner. Part of these regulations will come in the form of regular testing of all of the electronic appliances which are used by you and your workers to make sure that they are operating properly and will not potentially cause harm. The results of this testing will be indicated by the PAT testing labels which are affixed to the surface of the appliance itself. The PAT labels, with the information written onto them along with the color of the label, will help you clearly and immediately see which appliances can safely be used and which ones should not be touched.
These regulations are in place to ensure the highest quality level of safety for you and your workers. Electricity, while being an incredibly beneficial tool, can also be quite dangerous when it is not being accessed properly. If one of your appliances has a short in the wires or has internal damage, it will become quite easy for that electricity to turn into a dangerous quality. Regular PAT testing will help to establish the safety levels of these appliances. The PAT labels will simply indicate the state of those tests. PAT testing labels should be considered an essential for any business stock.
Along with indicating whether the appliance passed the tests or not, the PAT testing labels will clearly indicate the date that the test was performed as well as the next time a test will need to be conducted on that appliance. When an appliance passes with no problems, there will be a longer time between the tests than when the appliance passes but should be monitored carefully. Green PAT labels will show that the piece of equipment itself is at the highest level of safety, while a blue label shows a passing appliance that will need to be monitored more carefully in the future.
Sometimes an appliance will completely fail its test, however. When this happens, red PAT labels will be applied to the machine, showing that it should not be used out of risk of harm to the user. These red PAT testing labels will clearly say that the appliance failed its safety test. If you test your appliances and find any of them that failed the safety inspection, a red label must immediately be applied to protect your workers from using it and causing themselves harm. That appliance must be replaced as soon as possible.
The more that you use PAT testing labels, the more comfortable you will grow with them. Filling them out is easy, as most of them follow the same layout. You will find a space to put the specific serial number of the appliance being tested as well as the name of the person conducting the test. PAT labels will give you a space to place the current date of testing as well as the date when the next test needs to be conducted by to ensure the highest possible safety.

has anyone bought one of the blue label computers from best buy?
im looking to buy a new computer. i know i dont want a dell as i have had many in the past and am not satisfied. i was leaning more towards a toshiba or an acer...anyone have a suggestion in that department? also, i have been hearing a lot about the blue label computers...are they worth the money? does anyone have on that could give me some feedback?
Dell, Acer, HP, Gateway, Lenovo, eMachines, Compaq, Packard-Bell... They're all the same inside. the only difference is the exterior. The easiest way to guarantee that you won't be satisfied is to buy a computer from a mass-market retailer like Best Buy, Wal-Mart or Target. Those are NOT computer stores so they just sell "brand-in-a-box" computers that are cheap so that people who don't know any better will buy them. If you want to get a computer and be perfectly satisfied with it, go to a small computer store and have them build one for you. They can set up a system part by part based on what you want to do with it, what your budget is and what you want it to look like. They have REAL computer expertise and are not just trained to drain your wallet with maximum efficiency using sales pitches and half-truths. I've used computers for 27 years, I've worked at a tiger direct retail outlet and I built my first PC when I was 12. Please trust me on this one. Here's a good analogy:
Tiger Direct/CompUSA is a computer store that sells electronics. They have a limited selection of electronics and a HUGE assortment of brand-in-a-box computers and computer build components. They can also build a computer for you.
Best Buy is an electronics store that sells computers. They have a "geek squad" tech department that is vastly inferior to Tiger Direct's. They do not have a huge assortment of motherboards, video cards CPUs, power supplies or computer cases. The staff are completely clueless about computers except being able to recite the specs of a specific branded PC that they sell. There is no hope for upgradability with these computers which makes them technological dead-ends.
If you go to a local computer store for a build, you'll probably pay the same amount of money but when the computer becomes too old to be useful any more, you can save hundreds of dollars by only having to change the CPU, motherboard, RAM or any combination of the 3. Adding things like hard drives, power supplies or DVD burners is a snap because everything they use will be standard ATX size (as long as you specify that's what you want, and believe me, that's what you want.) and everything on the market will fit it. The other HUGE advantage to a build is that everything is modular, not integrated. That means if something fails, the whole computer isn't dead, just the part that failed which can be easily replaced with the rest of the system intact and in working order. Also, when you buy from a local store, you're helping the local economy and the service can't be beat. If you have a problem, they're nearby so you can just go to them instead of the hassle of calling a call centre with inept operators and having to pay shipping every time your computer needs service and being without it for a week or two. With only having to swap out a part here and there every few years, it might literally be the last computer you ever buy!
I REALLY hope this helps because believe it or not, I think it would be a better world if people took the time to give good advice like this. If you have any questions, send an email through my Y!A account and I'll help you decide what you need and help you find an acceptable store near you.
